This website is my response to the overuse of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. A decentralized web is a web that will not be censored or cancelled. It will be the site of my planned writings. So far, it is mostly bare, with only two books on meditation under the books link and a few short essays..

I am a retired programmer from the Space Telescope Science Institute and I live in Towson, Maryland. I have had a few, fleeting brushes with fame. I was interviewed by Baltimore Magazine about my interest in homeopathy. I was mentioned by Brad Warner under my online name of Jinzang in his book There Is No God. That was because I left a comment on his blog arguing there is no belief in God in Buddhism. I am probably best known in astronomy for my work on the Synphot package (pdf), although the current version is not my code. Programming is like writing on water. If you are successful, you can count on your code being replaced.

To keep healthy, I am a member of the Grind Gym and I follow the McDougall Diet. I am also a member of the Baltimore Homeopathic Study Group.
